Format A. Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga: Advanced Classes

STEP 2, IN TWO PARTS
Step 2 consists of "two parts" to be undertaken simultaneously. The approach is designed to allow students to develop a "Mysore Self-practice" while simultaneously under taking a study in the Level one Primary series prep class. The two formats work synergistically to support one another. Yogapada highly recommends for students truly wanting to learn the Classical Ashtanga Vinayasa Yoga System in its traditional form, to establish consistent attendance to the Mysore format in conjunction with the "led" primary series prep courses.

STEP 2: PART A, THE MYSORE PRACTICE—BUILDING A SELF SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE
This is the most efficient and traditional format in which to learn, practice and teach the Ashtanga Yoga system. Mysore-style is a class modeled closely upon Pattahbi Jois' teaching method as currently taught by him and his grandson Sharat at their Ashtanga Research Institute in Mysore, South India. Students in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Program should make this format the "Ashtanga students highest priority in regards to class attrendance." Note: This is an accommodating program, your practice may incorporate other forms of yoga.

We highly recommend that these classes be attended upon completion of a MTB-course and in conjunction with the Primary series prep class. When we can remember the very beginning of the sequencing, i.e. the (sun salutations) and standing poses and have completed a basics course, we have a "self-practice". This means you can drop in any day of the week to the Mysore style self-practice class, within the first hour or so of start time, and quite simply practice as much as you can remember, (and then some) working one-on-one, with a study sheet, teacher(s) and your breath, alongside other students, all practicing at their own pace and intensity. As each Mysore session progresses, we can begin to add postures to your practice, thereby gradually building up the Primary Series at a safe and sustainable progression

This course of study allows students to go deeply into their own experience of the practice while still maintaining the essential and reassuring experience of a close relationship with a teacher. This format allows for more private and personalized attention. And is most suitable for students with a desire to develop a self-practice.

Prerequisites: Completion of a Mastering the Basics course or instructors approval.

STEP 2: PART B, ASHTANGA-YOGA PRIMARY SERIES PREPARATION
The focus of this class is to prepare for and deepen ones understanding of the classical 1st series sequencing and rhythm. Here is where the knowledge gained from the Mastering the Basics program can be tested Students are encouraged to attend this format in conjunction with the Mysore class formats. This class is designed to prepare students who have a desire to progress in their practice of the Primary Series. The series from week to week will explore how we approach the completion of the first series. (From here, a simultaneous step is to develop a self-practice via the Mysore class format). Prerequisites: Mastering the basics or Instructor approval.

STEP 3: ASHTANGA-YOGA PRIMARY SERIES: "YOGA CHIKITSA", A WORKSHOP FORMAT
As stated previously, The Primary Series is the first series of sequentially arranged postures or Asanas, of the traditional system of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Periodic workshops are in the current development of our new curriculum. These workshops will be held bi or tri monthly with the intent of getting small study groups of students together over the weekend to "experience" completing the series in its entirety in a dynamic group practice. Currently this class is scheduled for a 3 PM Friday afternoon small group workshop. Each workshop begins when we have at least 10 students pre-registered. STEP 4: SECOND SERIES "NADI SHODHANA-WORKSHOP FORMAT
This is the 2nd or Intermediate series of The Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa System. Nadi Shodhana translates as "Nerve Purification".The primary series builds the foundation for this practice. Periodic workshops are in the current development of our new curriculum. These workshops will be held weekly and monthly or periodically as student demands require. These weekends will be held with the intent of getting students together over the weekend to explore this 2nd series. So stay tuned. Details Forthcoming.
