Healing Foods

January 2006

To friends and supporters of GeerCrest Farm,

Greetings from your farm fresh connection, source of wholesome goodness, a little note to let you know what it is we are up to...

As a Community Supported Farm we believe it makes sense that everyone connect with the source of their food, become involved in the whole life process of it's production and distribution as well as consumption.

We at GeerCrest Farm aim to serve as a rural hub where folks can learn from and with the natural process, experience the seasons and taste the difference co-creation makes.

Things are change'n fast on the farm. We will soon begin a Farm Stewards Program, our way of asking folks to participate in the life of the farm, GeerCrest Farm, a very special place. GeerCrest Farm was founded in 1847 by Oregon pioneers. The farm remains to this day in the Geer family. There is an unbroken continuity here into which we tap into stepping back to move forward. Stepping back to a time when folks knew who grew what they consumed and could tell the difference care of land and animals makes in the taste and qualities of food. They were integrated into the process, in touch with the beauty, and cycles of nature. It is time to move forward, to close the circle, activate the switch, keep our energy local and connect with one another. We are extending an invitation to an intimate relationship to what becomes you...the food you eat. At GeerCrest Farm we will be offering educational programs, a variety of workshops, summer camps for kids and adults and regular seasonal events.

As we expand to meet the needs of our rapidly growing network of sustainably worked farms and fresh food lovers, GeerCrest needs an influx of energy. It is necessary to expand the infrastructure so that the finest and freshest can reach the most with the greatest of ease. We need your help. Proceeds from our Farm Steward Program combined with prices that reflect the realities of high quality food production from happy animals and thriving lands, will provide the necessary nourishment to grow this network of Community Supported Farms.

That's what we are in the process of doing. Getting the systems in place to nourish the bounty. It will be busy these next few months and goat milk production will drop off as our does kid and nourish their little ones instead of us. To supplement the supply we have recently brought on line, raw cow milk from our bright eyed Jersey cow friends Ritzy and Roxy from SweetWell Farm.

It is an exciting time on the farm as more folks become involved and encourage our efforts with glowing reports, support us with visits and good old hard work. We are "in your backyard" and will soon be inviting you to "come on out" to meet the radiant beings and see how we do things.

With love,

Erika,Tracey,Timo and the farm family.
